Hi,
My name is Gemma and I am the maker and creator behind Boho Candles, as well as a small business owner I am a cleaner upper, a boohoo fixer, and a fierce lover of my not so little brood.
I am a mum of 4 children, who range in age from 16yrs to my youngest who is the newest addition to the family at 15 mths. I am extremely blessed to be a stay at home mum, but I did find after my 3rd child that I lost a bit of my own identity.
So with that I decided to find a hobby that would re-spark my creative side and give me back some me time when the children were all settled in bed and all mum duties are all done. I have always loved creating handmade items for my home.
Candle making seemed like a natural hobby choice as I have also always been a bit obsessed with candles and home fragrance...…
I started making candles back in 2012 for family and friends.
After a lot of research and experimentation into different wicks, fragrance oils, essential oils etc, I found the more I researched and tried different waxes, the more I loved working with soy wax. It gives the creamiest appearance and is slower burning giving a lovely clean burn each time...… and with that Boho Candles was born.
Although I have always wanted to make my candles from 100% soy wax and for them to be as simple and uncomplicated as possible, whilst still having that simplistic beauty with the essential elements of why people love candles...… fragrance and the comforting flicker of the flame that you can only get from candle light :)
I have always been amazed that a scent or fragrance can evoke a memory or experience.
For me the smell of Calvin Klein Eternity perfume is one I will always associate with my mum. Whenever someone walks past me and I get a sniff of that perfume, I instantly recognise it and immediately think of my mum.
We as women, and some men have a perfume or aftershave that is our favourite, our signature scent...…. why not have a signature scent for your home, or if your like me each room of your home ;)
Many fragrances are known for their relaxing, invigorating or even calming properties. This is a great way to create the perfect mood setting for a particular room.
So baring this in mind I have tried to create a range of simple in design yet beautifully fragranced soy wax candles for you to enjoy and treasure in your own home.
